Goin got Italy, shooting videos dumping footage into my external Lacie HD. How can i transfer that footage from my HD to a european computer or HD?
The last time I bought a HD with videos to transfer to family’s computer in Italy the files could not be read.
Hope I explained my issue clearly!

European computers and hard drives are no different from those used elsewhere in the world. That is, it would help if you could provide additional information about computers et cetera that are involved on both sides. TV systems are not the same, though.

Format the external drive to ExFat to work on either Macs or Windows PCs...

doesn't have to be seagate, they just provide a good example.
i’ll make the explanation of my issue simpler…When i was in Italy i had brought my external hard drive from the US with the intention of giving family all the footage I had shot over the years of my previous visits. Not one of their computers was able to read the files on my HD in order to download them onto their computers or their hard drives…. my hard drive “journaled”. my computer from the US is a an older 27” mac. the computers in Italy are mac’s as well and Dells, which are somewhat newer than mine. Again NOT ONE of the computers there was able to read my HD to retrieve video files.
that’s helpful, yet, I had read that ExFat would be “read only”…the link you attached didn’t say that, that’s good… which of course would that mean I could not dump the videos onto their computer? am i wrong

somebody was confised somewhere, Macs & PCs can both read & write ExFAT.
PCs cannot read or write MacOS extended or APFS without 3rd party help.
I think they must've been thinking about the NTFS format on PCs that Macs cannot read or write without 3rd party help.
