how to stop ipad from turning off from touch screen

9th generation ipad, IOS 17.4.1 I use a program called forScore which allows me to store music scores to play. The program uses a lot of touch screen gestures for turning pages, etc.

I have problems of the ipad turning off sometimes from touching the screen. I haven't been able to figure which touch actually does it. The software has a lot of info for setting up gestures, but does not address turning the pad off, so I believe this is a function of the ipad itself.

The program is useless if I have the possibility of the pad going dark in the middle of a concert. Is there a way to stop all touch screen gestures from turning the pad off? Thanks.
