Apple Devices App Does Not Recognize Ipod Touch

I recently "upgraded to the new Apple trio of apps - Devices, Music, and Television. Prior to that, i used ITunes to back-up my Ipod and to add new music and playlists. Had zero problems with ITunes. After installing the "Terrible Trio" of apps, my Ipod is no longer recognized by any of them. And, because I downloaded and installed them, Itunes is now a music station. I called Apple tech support to see if there is any way to delete the 3 awful apps and get the old Itunes back, but 2 techs had no answer for me, and 1 hung up while after putting me on hold "to check on that." How do i get these dumb apps to recognize my Ipod AND let me add and remove music??

Why did Apple have to ruin something that worked perfectly fine???

iPod, iOS 12
