Migration from iTunes to Apple Music / Lots of issues encountered / Failed Sync

Good day Community

I had yesterday a very bad user experience with Apple Music, while migrating from latest iTunes to Apple Music and Apple Devices (needed for Sync from Apple Music to iPhone).

iTunes seems now to be decommissioned. Apple Music needs to be used. Yesterday, I lost around 4h of the day because of migration issues:

1.

iTunes always asked, if a Media Library was not found. Apple Music does not ask for existing Media Libraries, if not found on start and resets the formerly existing one without backup.

It seems there is no option to re-load / re-store the existing one.  My library sits usually on a network drive, not always accessible as turned off.

So if you start Apple Music without the network drive active, the existing work is lost. It will be reset without warning. I have not found a solution or option to re-create, or simply switching to another library.

Do I miss something here ?

2.

There is no way to retrigger the "old" Media Library from iTunes to Apple Music. I made the mistake of disconnecting the network drive right in the beginning and when I looked for options to retrigger the import again due the previously imported Apple Music database being reset, I found nothing.

Question ist, is there an option to retrigger the import from iTunes ?

3.

Apple Music tells me, that there is an update to iOS 17.4.1 for my iPhone 15. When I check my the status on the phone, it reports, that iOS 17.4.1 is installed.

What is this versioning issue, does someone have an idea ?

4.

Apple Music uses Apple Devices. There seems to be multiple issues.

a) User needs to restart your PC after first install to make it work.

b) Apple Devices does connect to phone and Apple Music only after the first run after first reboot. Second time it tells you, that Apple Music must be started, but it is already active. (see screenshot below)

c) Inside Apple Devices I click the Music entry on my iPhone and it simply says "an unexpected error has occured" and no more details.

Until now, I did not manage to successfully snychronize my iPhone with some older music, which I bought on CD and recently converted to Apple Lossless.

This is a very bad user experience upto now.

I do not see a Backup of Media Library option, as well it seems not to have a "Safe Start" option (SHIFT+Start iTunes).

The error messages are not really helpful, the exeception handling is dangerous and can cause a full loss your whole Media Library in Apple Music. I am very disappointed of this iTunes replacement.

Any help is appreciated. Best regards.

Fitz
