Migration Assistant - how do I know it's done?

I left it overnight transferring files from old mac to new, both macs cabled up to ethernet. This morning, I saw the files continue to stack up, then stop - the figure hasn't changed now for about an hour so I'm guessing it's done but it still shows 'Transferring documents for the user...' and 'About 5 minutes remaining' which suggests it may not be, but there's been zero activity of any kind for an hour. What actually happens at the end of this process to indicate completion?
