MacBook Air freezing issues after sleep mode

Frequently, when I leave my MacBook Air on to have lunch or whatever, I find the sign-in screen frozen when I return (in half an hour or more, which is after the Screen Saver Cycle has completed and the computer has gone to sleep as scheduled). To use it, I need to force it to turn off by pressing and holding the on button and then turn it on again.

How can I prevent this from happening? It hasn't always been this way.

Thank you.

It appears you had Trusteer anti-virus installed, but it looks like it was removed except for the remains of a System Preference pane as far as I can tell. You don't need any anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software on a Mac, plus those types of apps usually cause more problems than they solve. If a school or employer requires the use of an anti-virus product, then MalwareBytes is fine to use, but if it is not required, then I would certainly disable its real time scanner. Here is an excellent article written by a respected forum contributor that I think everyone should read as it contains excellent advice for keeping devices running smoothly & safely:

Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community

You do have some apps installed which I am not familiar (have not seen them in other reports), but then I not a macOS software expert either. The crash logs show some third party software called "warsaw" has crashed 18 times.

Otherwise I don't really see anything in that report that would cause me concern, but maybe another more knowledgeable contributor will chime in here to assess the installed software.

That leaves the SSD as the most likely cause of the issues since most SSD failures I've encountered while supporting my organization's Macs occur when powering on the computer or waking it from sleep. Many times there will be Kernel Panics associated with such a failure, but that is not always the case. Try running DriveDx (free trial period) to examine the SSD's health. Post the complete text report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper on the forum editing toolbar so that I can review the SSD's health report. You do have a third party SSD installed in this laptop...it is from a respected vendor.

Disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.

You can try an SMC Reset.

You still have some components of Trusteer still running on your system. I'm guessing you did not follow the developer's instructions for uninstalling Trusteer.....usually you need to run the app's uninstaller for that type of app since it installs tendrils into the bowels of the OS which is why those types of apps typically cause so many problems as they interfere with the normal operation of the OS. Perhaps you can boot into Safe Mode and use the Finder to delete those remaining items.

[Running] com.trusteer.rooks.rooksd.plist (Trusteer LTD - installed 2023-07-28)
Executable: /Library/Rapport/bin/rooksd

[Running] com.trusteer.rapport.rapportd.plist (Trusteer LTD - installed 2023-06-14)
Executable: /Library/Rapport/bin/rapportd.app/Contents/MacOS/rapportd

Ad-blockers:
Rapport Content Blocker - /Library/Rapport/bin/rapportd.app

3rd Party Preference panels:
Flip4Mac WMV (? - installed 2015-09-15)
Trusteer Endpoint Protection (Trusteer LTD - installed 2023-06-14)

Oh, and I believe Flip4Mac is no longer necessary, but maybe another more knowledgeable contributor can confirm.

I also have no idea about this item which may be associated with Launch Agents:

[Not Loaded] dummy.txt (Not signed - installed 2021-03-04)

If Trusteer is not completely to blame, then Warsaw listed as "com.topazofd.warsaw" from TPZ Solucoes Digitais Ltd is the next item which may be likely causing a problem since it has crashed 10 times as listed in the report (hard to say if Trusteer was the cause of those crashes, or the Warsaw software itself). I've never heard of it before.

You have a few other installed items which I am unfamiliar as I've never seen them in any other report, but I'm not a macOS software expert.

Kernel Extensions:
/Library/Extensions
[Not Loaded] AX88179_178A.kext - com.asix.driver.ax88179-178a (1.12.0 - SDK 10.10)

YTD Helper (Greentree Applications SRL) and NasNaviHelper....both listed as Login Items.

The OWC Aura SSD health report looks good.

Is the laptop using an original Apple SSD or a third party SSD?

Is the laptop connected to the power adapter or running just on the battery?

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.

Try running the third party app EtreCheck and post the complete report here so we can examine it for clues.

Has anything recently changed with this laptop (hardware or software) or your work station?

Hi HWTech,

Thank you for your questions and help. I'll answer them below.

Is the laptop using an original Apple SSD or a third party SSD?

 File System: APFS

 Writable: No

 Ignore Ownership: No

 BSD Name: disk1s5s1

 Volume UUID: AC1CED95-D917-4A7F-9F5C-04FF3A9CCEB0

 Physical Drive:

 Device Name: Aura Pro X2

 Media Name: AppleAPFSMedia

 Medium Type: SSD

 Protocol: PCI-Express

 Internal: Yes

 Partition Map Type: Unknown

 S.M.A.R.T. Status: Verified

Is the laptop connected to the power adapter or running just on the battery?

Connected to the adapter.

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.

I'll run the program and let you know. I bought the laptop refurbished by a third party and it has worked very well for me for the three or so years that I've had it. The freeze problem is relatively new, maybe I've been putting up with it for a year.

Try running the third party app EtreCheck and post the complete report here so we can examine it for clues.

Has anything recently changed with this laptop (hardware or software) or your work station?

No.
