Does TuringTest2 's DeDuper work with Apple Music app for Windows, or only iTunes?

I have a huge Apple Music Library folde on my home server, and I's like to clean up the thousands of duplicate songs.

I found TuringTest2 DeDuper Script, but it seems to be written for iTunes and not apple Music App. The latest version of iTunes I can find is from 2020. Is it still safe to use this old version alongside latest versions of Apple Music for Mac and PC, all touching the same library folder?

Thanks!

Windows, Windows 10

iTunes only I'm afraid. As yet Apple haven't seen fit to port over scripting support into Apple Music for Windows.

This link will give you the current version of iTunes: https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64.

Note that installing Apple Music cripples iTunes, leaving it only able to manage audiobooks and podcasts. I really don't see the benefit of Apple Music for Windows at this point.

Thanks!

I was able to run the script on a copy of my library (which I copied down from my home server for this purpose, and am now copying back)

On question though. My library is used by PC's, MACS, and HEOS in my home. Can the same library folder be used by iTunes (on my PC's), Apple Music (on my Macs), and just as a server folder for HEOS (if you are familiar with it)?

Script is great!

Cheers,

Dave

You can use the same media folder for multiple apps, but you need to be aware how changes made in one library will impact another. If Apple Music, for example, is keeping the media folder organized, then a metadata update in that library might mean the track is no longer where iTunes expects to find it, and even if you have keep organized turned off iTunes won't automatically pick up on the changes until it has reason to, such as when playing that track.
