Apple Music Playlist on computer deleted after library update

My wife curated several playlists going back many years on Apple Music. She decided to discontinue using Apple for a month and a half and then came back recently.

She noticed that none of her playlists were visible on her iPhone in the Apple Music app, but they were visible on her Windows laptop in iTunes.

I wanted to sync her iTunes to her Music app to get the playlists back, so I went to File->Library->Update Library. I thought the playlists would reappear in the app on her phone, but the opposite happened: the new playlists on her app are now visible in iTunes and the original playlists she had are gone.

Is there anything we can do to restore those playlists (the originals)? They were created through Apple Music and not iTunes (not purchased), and there are no backups.
