Migrating files from Mac Pro 2013 to Mac Pro 2019 Revisiting from months ago

I have tried to migrate files but I get not enough room on the unit I'm migrating files to

Both units are running OS 12.7.1

The destination hard drive is 2GB with 700GB free

and the hard drive with the files I'm migrating over is also 2TB with 117GB free

I would have thought there would be enough room.

So since there is not

I'm thinking, I only need to keep 2 or 3 apps on the destination drive so I thought I would just migrate those apps over to the drive with the files I'm moving, THEN ERASE the destination drive and then migrate everything over Is this possible??

I'm worried because the destination Mac Pro is a 2019 ad I know the system and files structures are not the same, am I right?? Any one know how I can do this correctly?

Two buckets of data will not fit into one bucket.

For a do-over, you will need to erase the destination Mac, then reinstall macOS and Migrate your new choices.

If space is an issue for the destination Mac, then your options are to exchange the Mac for one with a larger drive or reduce some data on the old Mac and run a new Time Machine backup to Migrate from.

Ok the migration worked as I selected Applications , users and other files. When it was done I had what I needed except for the preferences for each app which means I should have also selected System and Network files.

So I need to RE migrate so this time I would just select the last back up from my Mac that I need to do the file transfer to the destination drive and my question is:

Will I have enough room on the destination drive since I migrated all the files already?????

Almost done, anyone?

Sorry need one more answer,

Once I erase the destination drive (2019 Mac Pro) which is running Monterey do I upgrade the OS FIRST which in this case would be SONAMA OR install the same OS Monterey which it's running now?

I want to migrate all the files from a Time Machine back up from a 2013 Mac Pro which is also running Monterey.

I would think that if I migrate a Time machine back up it will migrate everything over EXCEPT the OS correct?
