Exchange without receipt?
Received a Mac air as a gift but no gift receipt available, partner bought it online. How can I exchange the item, hopefully without him knowing. Wanting a bit more ram for my use

Does the email contain an invoice/receipt? If not, it will not do.
Besides, you cannot "exchange" for one with more RAM. That would be a custom order, so he has to return it for a refund within 14 days and you can order one with more RAM.
You can ask Apple, but you need a receipt as far as I know. Buying it online has nothing to do with it; you will have a receipt in the account it was purchased with and an email receipt.

Your request sounds a little shady. Why not ask him to exchange it for you? I'm not saying you obtained the computer illegally but if you could do it, what would stop anyone from asking "Can I exchange a computer for which I have no receipt and I don't want the purchaser to know about the exchange for a new computer registered in my name?" Doesn't that sound a little suspicious? Thieves could exchange stolen computers for new computers registered in their name.
Okay I see. Return and repurchase is the only option to get more RAM. Thank you for taking the time to respond
Thank you that’s helpful, so if I was to print this out and take it to Apple Store it would count as receipt?
Makes sense! No shade tho, just don’t want to sound ungrateful by asking so I will just print receipt of his email if that counts.
