Slides only appear in Edit Slide Layout

I have built a presentation of about 30 slides. I can see the slides in Slide Layout Mode. When I move out of slide layout mode, all the slides except the first slide diseappear. When I enter Light Table mode, only the single slide appears. When I go into Play mode, only the one slide is avaiable. How do I full get access to my slides?
