Deleting Photos from iPad Air 2

I want to delete some photos from my iPad air 2 ONLY to allow more space but not delete from iCloud or my other devices like my iPhone pro 12 or my HP Computer

Once you commit to iCloud Photos you can’t be selective in deletions, but you can ensure optimise ipad storage is turned on in iPhone Settings, [your name], iCloud, Photos then storage will automatically be made available
