iPadOS 17.1 Music freezes, reboot does not immediately solve
Is this a known problem? Any workarounds?
Using the Music app to play songs stored locally on my iPad via AirPlay to a Sonos speaker. The music stopped playing at a song transition. I woke up the display and saw that the app was still in play mode (it showed the parallel bar stop icon, not the wedge play.). Pressing the stop icon did not produce any changes and the app was totally unresponsive to any screen taps, except for being able to change the output (AirPlay).
- Using the AirPlay button, I changed the speaker back to the iPad. The Music app still appeared to be frozen.
- I used the home button to put the app in the background, "swiped up" on the backgrounded Music app to close it, then Shutdown the iPad, waited a bit, and powered it back up again. Started the Music app. The App still frozen.
- Again put the app in the background, swiped up, then started the app again. Music plays!
So maybe the app needed to count to infinity or something before it was willing to work after reboot? Or something.
Anyway, putting this report out there in hopes of a solution. Or, at least, to let anyone else this happens to know that they're not alone.
