HMRC Basic Paye tools

I have updated my mac to Sonoma 14, but now get error messages when trying to do payroll for my business using HMRC Basic Paye Tools. Is anyone else having the same problem.

I saw somewhere online that ticking the box ' I wish to explain why this is late' stopped the programme crashing. It worked for me.

Poor effort by HMRC though.

I found that once i updated my macbook to the latest version of the iOS system basic tools worked fine for me so i think hmrc have updated basic tools so that it works for mac again. But i had to update to the latest operating system first. If you check hmrcs website they list the operating systems that they support. So I'm hoping this problem is now in the past - and i think i used chrome as badic tools work using your browser now. Good luck!

I am having this problem. I had the problem in April after upating the HMRC tools and/ or upgrading to Sonoma 14 which was probably about the same time. I have deleted the payment and ticked the box "I wish to explain why this is late" (I was always told to ignore this box by my accountant!) but it is still crashing or going to the 127.0.0.1 page which tells me that I either have no connection (not true) or that I need to:

"Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.

If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

If you use a proxy server…

Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure that the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to Applications > System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies and deselect any proxies that have been selected."

but I can't seem to work out how to do this - I now have one late submission and one outstanding (which I can't do until I've submitted the May one - which I've deleted and redone).

Has anyone else had this problem please?

I posted this a few weeks back, which still works for me on Ventura using Safari, but I just tried on MBP with Sonoma and the final submit crashes. It's incredible that the issue has been dragging on for so long.

I too have been using Basic PAYE tools on OSX for a long time now, but I've been facing this issue for months on my Macbook Pro running Sonoma, luckily my iMac had Ventura so was able to work around it... until this week when the final submit causes the crash. It then occurred to me that this all began when HMRC stopped building with an embedded browser UI which lead me to believe it was browser related. I use Firefox and Chrome but only Safari in emergencies. Oddly enough after changing the default browser to Safari on Ventura the submission worked. I cannot verify Sonoma untl next month when I'll have something to submit.
