I have my iPhone 15 charging optimization set to 80% limit. Today, I take my iPhone off the charger and the battery level reads 86%. Does anybody know why this would occur, and what could be done to prevent this from happening again? Thanks in advance for your response.

I have the same problem, also with iOS 17.1, on my iPhone 15 Plus. Every time the iPhone charges to 100%, even on the "80% Limit". This must be a bug.
FYI: I use the official Apple cable and charger. Please Apple fix this.

I am on 17.2.1 and this behavior still present.

With 80% Limit enabled, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates-Apple

Do you think it's absolutely necessary to use an official Apple charger to get this feature working or is any charger with "PD" certification ok?
I’m having the same problem. My iPhone 15 pro max charged 82% the other day and today it charged upto 84% battery level went to 87 after restart. Plz reply if someone knows why this happens.
This seems to have been fixed on my 15 Pro max in the software update of iOS 17.4.
Interesting but mine does it even with a regular brick I tried that. And the 17.4 update hasn’t done a thing for me

keep charging prolong time after phone is fully charged. Does this behaviour effect the battery life?
In iOS 17.4.1 I have the same problem, the phone has a charge limit of 80% but it reaches up to 100%.
I got a new iPhone in late 2023 and have battery optimised on, but it always charges to 100% I’m also using an apple charger. I’m worried that this is probably ruining my battery life.
