FindMy AirTag Sharing Feature in iOS 17.0.1 on iPhone 13 Crashes the FindMy app
iPhone 13 iOS = 17.0.1
Apple Watch SE iOS = 10.0.1
My wife and I both have new iPhone 13s that are less than one year old. We also have new Apple Watch SEs. Yesterday I upgraded our iPhone 13s to iOS 17.0.1 and our Apple Watch SEs to iOS 10.0.1. We are looking forward to many of the great new features we have been reading about online.
The feature I wanted to use first is sharing an AirTag on my wife's account with me, a new feature in iOS17. The interface was updated as expected on her phone and mine. I entered "Add" for my iPhone as a share on the AirTag on her phone, which worked as expected. Then I went to my phone and accepted the invitation to share. I closed the FindMy app on my phone and re-opened it, went Items, and FindMy crashed and closed. I tried several times to open Items in FindMy and each time it crashed.
To troubleshoot this, I went back to my wife's iPhone 13 and removed the share on her AirTag to my iPhone 13. I went back to my iPhone and opened FindMy. Then I opened Items it worked as expected, minus my wife's AirTag.
I went through this process again today, some 20 hours later, and got the exact same results.
One of two things is probably happening. Either the new iOS 17 AirTag Sharing feature does not work on the iPhone 13 or I am not setting this feature up correctly. Either way I am disappointed that this promised feature does not work on our iPhones.
Any suggestions or recommendations on how to correct this issue will be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
