unable to verify is battery if genuine apple part

My brothers phone popped up with a message saying that the phone is unable to verify whether or not the batter is a genuine apple part but on top of that is not allowing him to charge his phone because of this. I've seen a few other posts where people have had the same message but haven't seen any where they can't charge their phone anymore. Does anyone know how to fix this issue without spending an arm and a leg to get it serviced by apple?

Was the battery replaced recently, or does the phone still have its original battery?

If the battery was replaced with a non-genuine part, Apple or an authorized Apple Service shop won't touch the phone because it has been tampered with by an unauthorized person. You will have to take the phone back to the shop that installed the wrong battery and hope for the best.

If the phone still has its original battery, make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple Service shop to let them run some tests and checks on the battery.
