How do I remove myself as a co-owner?

I was added as a co-owner and want to remove myself as one, I do not use the account and don’t want to be liable.

Removing yourself as a co-owner does not remove your liability for the entire balance. A co-owner has equal responsibility for the entire balance, not just their purchases or just ½ the balance.

When a co-owner removes themselves, the joint account is permanently closed and reported as a closed account on both credit reports. Each co-owner is equally responsible for paying the minimum payment each month. They are welcome to apply for a new individual account, but must meet credit requirements at time of application.
