New rooms not showing up in Homekit

I've been adding new rooms too my Apple Home app, and they are not showing up on the My Home page, although they do show up if I click on the More button (the top right button with three dots). I could live with this, but it means that I cannot select any accessories in that room when I go to create a New Automation in the Shortcut app. The new rooms also do not show up in the Home app on either my iPad or Mac.

I spent an hour on the phone with a very nice lady at Apple support, but she didn't know anything about the Home app.

Does anyone have a suggestions on how to fix this? I have rebooted numerous times, as well as signing out of my Apple account then back in.

As a further data point, I can see those rooms in the third part app Controller for HomeKit also (I created the rooms in the Apple Home app).

I guess I could move those accessories to a room that I can get to show up in the My Home page, but I shouldn't have to do that.

This applies also for the Apple Home App -- new architecture configuration.

It seems many people are having this issue. Why doesn't the Apple Home App's "Home" Screen show all the rooms?

In other related posts, some say to ensure that the associated devices in those rooms are set to display in the Home Screen (toggle selection under status). But in many cases, mine included, these are set to display, but the room still is not listed.

In my case, I have a leak detector / temperature sensor unit in the "Basement" Room. The temperature indication is part of the "Climate" temperature range on the Home Screen. The leak detector portion is not user-adjustable and is automatically set to display when a leak situation is occurring. Could it be that since the temperature indication portion is included in the Climate category, it is not included in the "Basement" on the Home Screen? And since there is no current leak/flood in progress, the leak detector portion is not showing either. And since that is all that is in my Basement it has decided not to include the Basement room on my Home Screen? That is unfortunate.

Similarly, I have a temperature/humidity indicator in my "Living Room". Both elements of this device are set to be included in the Home Summaries. The Living Room temperature is included in the Climate temperature range on the Home Screen. The "Living Room" is showing on my Home Screen. But under it, it is only showing the status of my Apple TV which is also in the Living Room. By selecting Living Room from the Home Screen (clicking on the little circle with the 3 dots (...) in it in the top right of the Home Screen, has a pop-up menu with the Rooms list at the bottom of it), it shows the Living Room temperature/humidity and Apple TV status. That is a lot to go through to get to this information that we requested to be on the Home Summaries.

Apple engineers/developers, please, this should not be so difficult. It should be that if you select an item for inclusion in the Home Summaries, it and its Room are listed in the Home Summaries. Maybe it would be best to have another option where we can select if we want particular rooms to be in Home Summaries as well. That way even if they have no current devices at least they can be listed there.

In addition, as a side issue, on my iPhone at least (iPhone SE 3rd Gen), a number of the icons on the Apple Home App Home Screen (e.g, the Speakers and TVs) are partially cut off on the right side. And on my Family Room screen (which has a power/light switch, with 3 scenes listed left to right), the right most Scene is substantially cut off. This should also be repaired. A little bit beyond the scope of this discussion, but it may be related overall to work yet outstanding.

Thanks,

I inquired with Eve Support about this issue where we cannot get the Home View to show some devices in their particular rooms. And for rooms with only sensors, they do not show up in the Home Screen summary. Here is what I heard back from Eve Support:

"Unfortunately, Apple has changed the view of sensors. These only appear in their room on top of the page. If you include them into favorites, climate sensors will only appear under climate on the start page. Upon tap, you will see all sensors. However, Apple Home allows for no other presentation. Only Apple can change the design, sorry for that."

So it appears that the device makers are attributing this "issue" or "feature" to Apple's Home design, so things such as climate sensors only appear in Climate summary at the top of the Home Screen page on the Apple Home App and they are not listed under their rooms in that view. That would mean some rooms (those with climate sensors only) will not appear in the Home Screen view. One would have to open the specific room to see all the devices, climate sensors included, in the particular room.

To our Apple engineers/developers, it seems that it would be a good idea, for completeness, to allow the sensors in the particular room to be displayed under their particular rooms in the Home View too. To do otherwise seems to result in unnecessary confusion, and appears to be somewhat inconsistent with the treatment of other devices. Please consider this recommendation.

I am not sure if addressing this would also result in a resolution to Mike's original issue (the originator of this particular discussion), but here's hoping that it helps.

Thanks,

Thanks @Mknl.

But that's just the thing. The devices in these rooms are set to display. At least to the extent the Settings for them allow.

But in looking again, after your note, I found that the particular device settings options for the devices not displaying in the Home Screen (and in the one case, for then the associated room to not even displaying on the Home Screen (since it is only one of these type of devices in that room)) are different from the devices that do display in their respective rooms.

For the devices that do not display under their rooms in the Home Screen (just display in the category summary (e.g., Temperature), under their settings, instead of an option to "Add to Home View", there is a different option. It is under the device Settings --> Status, with the option there to "Include in Home Summaries". (With a green toggle on/off, and the explanation under it: "When enabled, this accessory will be added to your home and category summaries." But unfortunately those devices (in my case, an Eve Degree (Temp and Humidity indicator) and a Fibaro Flood (Temp Indicator and Flood Sensor) do not show up in Home View under their respective rooms, (but the temperature from both these devices is included in the Home Temperature category. (All devices have their latest version of their software/firmware, but none are thread/matter capable.)

My Apple TV 4K and my Eve Energy (Plug-In Power On/Off device) have the "Add to Home View" option under their device settings (which I have selected "On"). They show up in the Home View under their respective rooms.

So it seems then, that the question is:

Why, for some devices, is there a "Add to Home View" option under their device settings (that works as expected), and for other devices, the option is only: "Include in Home Summaries" (which does not include them in their respective rooms on the Home Screen)? The results, as we have seen, are different.

Appreciate any guidance on this.

Thanks,
