How to set effective Screen Time limits on iOS?

What’s wrong with screen time? I use screen time to manage my kids usage of their iPhone/iPad and this feature does not work as expected. It allow them to continue watch beyond the limits. They can ignore the limits…

are you also having the same issue with iOS 16.4.5 and any other version before that?

The screentime limits and website blocking lists are completely useless. Kids can simply ignore limit or add website to the allowed list at a click of a button. Why this would even be included as an option is beyond me (unless they simply want kids to be addicted to their devices...)

Yes I have tried all the 'solutions'. Signed in and out of all devices hundreds of times. Wasted hours of my life. Looking at the comments it has been a problem for years.

Completely pathetic from Apple.

I was still experiencing the same problem with the possibility of my son to “ignore the limit”. Today it seems to be solved with the new ios update on both phones.

But I really believe that it’s madness for parents to help your child to grow safely without being so exposed so you have to add restrictions on restrictions.

My advise for parents is to avoid as much as possible to buy your child a mobile phone until they are 14 years old, when their brains are developed enough to start to be more responsable.

I realize that when I turned off the passcode that unlocks the iPad for my kid that that seemed to screw up the screen time settings I had set up using my iPhone. I turned the passcode back on and restart the iPad then make sure that the Screen Time passcode itself was working again… And then I made sure that “block at downtime” was checked back on. It’s the switch that says block at downtime that you really have to look at. When that’s checked then theoretically the kid can’t ignore the downtime setting. But again, I realize that everything started to go screwy after I turned off the iPads screen lock password. In other words, I thought at first it didn’t matter if my kid locked his iPad in order to pick it up and use it so I turned it off… But that’s when my problem started.
