Why my time is showing with an orange background?

That’s another way of showing the “orange indicator.” It means that an app is using your microphone. Please see the Related Article above your name for more info.

I did not know that. I thought this happened strictly when using the microphone, then exiting the app, and leaving the microphone running. Please see the screenshot:

This was right after exiting the Voice Memos app, and starting a recording. Soon after I took the screenshot, it turned into the “orange background behind the clock.”

Just thought I’d share my findings.

It means that there is an app active in background; something that you would want to run even if you were using a different app, such as navigation or audio streaming. If you tap on the time your phone will switch to that other app.

Ever get a definitive answer to this? I closed all apps and it still remained orange
