Change back to physical SIM FROM ESIM

iPhone seems to be defaulting to eSIM although I have a physical sim which it will not recognize. Any ideas how to revert it to physical sim mode?

Contact your carrier. You may have to get a new SIM.

That so for that thought but i have covered that. SIM is fine - works in other phones. However even an exchanged phone has the same problem
