Final cut 10.6.5 constantly crashes (Ventura 13.0.1). I can`t edit anymore!!! HELP!

Hi there!!

Since a not so long time, it is really difficult to edit in my final cut, it gets frozen (rainbow circle) all the time for no reason. Sometimes I can edit some minutes without problems sometimes just a few seconds. I have no problems with other softwares. I work as a wedding videographer and I can´t edit properly anymore so you can imagine the stress.

Final cut 10.6.5.

Ventura 13.0.1.

I use Nitrate as a plugin. But I think this is not the problem as it was working properly time ago.

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Hi MtD,

Thanks!!. I´ve made this reset thing but nothing happened. Finally i´ve called to the support and they told my to upgrade to the very last Ventura version, which I did and copy a finalcut project from the external ssd disk to the system one.. So far is working.. Tomorrow he will call me again back.

Have you reset your FCP preferences? It is the usual first step in addressing unexpected performance issues in FCP.
