What do I Do when my iPhone says "iPhone Unavailable"?

It is important to understand why this message is appearing, so that it can be avoided in the future. The phone is Unavailable because the wrong passcode has been entered too many times, so the user is locked out of his / her own phone.

The only way to fix this problem is erase / reset the phone and then set it up again.

If you have a current backup of the phone, you can use that to restore the phone during the new setup.

If your phone is running iOS 15.2 or higher, you can use the following instructions, which do not require the use of a computer to set up the phone.

It might be a good idea to write down down the new passcode, even though you might feel that you are sure that you will never forget it.
