The Touch ID button is not working on my iPad Air 4th gen. As well, the button is uncomfortably hot. I’m worried that the device could be a fire hazard. Have there been fires from a hot Touch ID button? What do I do?

Your TouchID button should not become hot. You would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - and you’ll be able to explore your available options:
