Apple Desktop Music App not updating play count on last song on an album

I have a playlist that is play count is zero so as soon as the file plays the song will be kicked out of the list. Recently after I play an album from start to finish the play count of only the last song will not update. It stays at zero and never gets kicked out of the list. Only the last song. Anybody have any ideas?

Hello Gthrockstar,

We understand that the play count for your playlist is not updating as expected and we'd like to provide you with a few steps that may help resolve this issue:

  1. Restart your Mac. Completing the step allow you to refresh your Mac and its software.

On your Mac, select the Apple menu > Restart.

2. Start up your Mac in safe mode. This may help identify whether issues you’re experiencing are caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up. Your screen will flash and load slowly. This is expected behavior while in this mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac

3. Test the issue in a new user account. This will allow you to determine if the behavior is specific to your account: Add a user or group on Mac

Let us know if this helps.

Best wishes!

Problem solved! I have my computer hooked up to an amp and speaker combo. Recently I added some HomePod Minis for a different area of the room. When the HomePod Minis are chosen through the Music app the play count will not update when the end of the file is reached. No idea why that would happen but I deselect the HomePods and the play counts update just fine.
