iPod 4th gen Shuffle won't connect to Mac

Hi, I am trying to sync and load my 4th gen iPod shuffle to my ihome apple computer. There is no usb plugin in the back the computer, only type C holes. I got J5 create 6 usb dock to use devices that need a usb hole. I plugged that in to wall and computer. Not sure if it's really connected to computer, says it's Apple friendly. So my shuffle is plugged in and it's not popping up when I go to Music. Ive had an older apple home computer, scuffles, iPods that when plugged in popped up right away. Not sure what im doing wrong? or ?? Im frustrated

It sounds like you may be using a newer Mac. In these newer versions, or on computers that are using Mac OS 10.15 or later, you would actually need to use Finder to see the iPod shuffle. The following article has some steps that can help.
