iPad Pro (11-inch 3rd Gen) automatically goes to sleep / restart

Hi,

We are using several iPad Pro (11-inch 3rd Gen, iOS 15.4) for business use, running a specific application 24/7, with automatic screen lock turned off and guided access turned on.

It appears that after 2-3 days, the iPad will automatically goes to sleep.

Furthermore, when we tried to unlock the iPad,

the home screen is shown instead of the app that was running.

We have confirmed that this phenomenon is happening to several iPad Pro (11" Gen 3) that we have.

If we leave 10 iPads running for one week, this phenomenon will occur on about 5 of the iPads.

However such problem does not occur on iPad (Gen 8) and iPad mini (Gen 6) that we have been using under similar condition.

Is there anything we could do/try that might prevent the phenomenon where the iPad Pro automatically goes to sleep from happening?

Hello Seiji_H,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with iPad devices going to sleep. It looks like your iPad devices need updating to iOS 15.7.1 or 16.1. Do you have a recent backup for the data for your iPad devices in iCloud or your computer? If not, we recommend that you create one as described here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Then update your iOS as outlined here: Update your iPhone or iPad

If the issue persists, please reach out to Apple for Business with the phone number best for you here: Contact Apple for support and service

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
