Disable iMessage Report as Junk option

iPhone 13 with iOS 16. I don’t want to have to decide to report or not report every single time I delete a text message. Can I turn that off?

I've given feedback already but just want to reiterate. This is a horrible feature. I am so tired of having to answer the "report" question every time I get an appointment reminder from my doctor or auto mechanic. I don't want to keep the conversations, either, because it clutters up my message queue and because some systems use multiple numbers to text reminders.

It also causes false reports because I sometimes hit the report response by accident.

Please, let make this configurable.

Put the text sender in your contacts and the Junk option should not appear. It only should appear if this is a new sender you have never heard from or sent to before.

If you get these junk options for people named in your contacts then use the link suggested by the Community Specialist but as a bug report because it should not happen.

Also reporting the number as junk will not prevent you from receiving texts from them again - it is not that powerful! If the network provider gets a lot of reports for the same sender then they may treat them as junk senders.

I consider this a bug and a feedback. This is at best a horribly designed new feature but really is a design bug because I’ve reported 99% of my deleted texts from family, friends, and businesses I want as junk because of the way the design flow works.

this is horrible!!!!

This “feature” is a disaster and results in the “report spam” option being selected every time. At a minimum, the option should be the second choice below the delete button. Apple should be embarrassed for this clear GUI oversight as the user experience is beyond terrible. Please fix by just reversing the buttons.

This really is an irritating “feature.” I just bought my first iPhone after being an android guy from the very beginning of smart phones, and while do like the phone quite a bit, the inability to make my own decisions for functionality like this and ultimately create the experience I want is a real turnoff. I’m not saying this was the ultimate deal killer, but it’s a big example of the types of rigid, one-size-fits-all aspects of the platform that are leading me to return the phone and go back to android. I’m not sure why apple is so unyielding in their design philosophy, but it seems like an outdated approach to me. Why wouldn’t you let people decide if they want this?

As I said above, reporting the number as junk will not prevent you from receiving texts from them again - it is not that powerful! If the network provider gets a lot of reports for the same sender then they may treat them as junk senders. Entirely up to your network provider, not Apple.
