SOLUTION!!! (From another thread I found — thank you to the original poster 🙌🏼)

When connecting the airpods to the TV, they have a built in volume which is disconnected to the TV volume, and this defaults itself to minimum hence seeming like there's no sound coming through.

If you use the new airpods, and using the side of them increase the airpod volume directly (stroking the stem upwards) you will solve the problem!

I had the exact same problem, “no audio at all from AirPods Pro 2 but a successful connection to TV” and discovered this thread. My TV would show connection to the AirPods, but no sound, despite the headphone volume showing 50% on the TV. For me, a few posts within this thread led me to my resolution after a lot of self trial and error.

Although, I am connecting to a Phillips smart Tv, and not a Samsung model.Hopefully though, as my symptoms were identical to others here, the below summary of actions taken that may help others experiencing the same issue.

1) The first thing I noticed before researching was that when first connecting to the TV the AirPods would connect with the “ - Find my” suffix as part of the device name. I just assumed that was just what was being broadcast by the AirPods Pro 2 to a non Apple device when connecting to them. I think it is a separate transmission broadcast on a different frequency that overshadows the audio connection. Earlier in this thread it is mentioned that turning off the “Find my” setting in the AirPods settings and then reconnecting them to the TV helps. I did this, and yes I able to get the TV connected to the AirPods Pro without the “Find my” suffix.

I did this but still no sound! My TV volume was still showing 50% headphone volume.

2) Further on in this thread it’s mentioned about lowering the volume slider on the TV to zero and back up again to get the sound. So I tried this but still nothing.

3) Then, again mentioned further above in the thread was about the Airpod volume itself via the stem. I tried this by moving up slightly and heard something very low so I thought I’m onto something here! I then tried increasing the volume on the TV via the remote, and although it increased on the slider, it didn’t increase the volume in my ears and still very quiet sound! So I continued with the slider volume on the stem of the AirPod itself. I did it about 4 or 5 times then got to a significantly increased volume. I then had to turn down the TV slider volume as it was too loud!! My TV goes to 60, and I’ve got in on 15, so only 25% volume which is adequate. AirPods volume is at maximum on the stem.

It appears that the Airpod volume defaults to zero when connected to a non Apple device, I assume for safety reasons. It is also independently adjustable from the TV headphone volume itself, i.e. both the AirPods and the TV volume can be adjusted to adjust overall headphone volume (in my case at least with my TV).

It has worked flawlessly for me since, no drops or deterioration, I can pause and restart play with audio fine, I can change sources without issue.

In summary do the following:-

1) Disable “Find my” setting to ensure correct device pairs to TV. Name shown should match name in Airpod settings on iPhone.

2) Ensure TV headphone audio volume is above Zero.

3) Increase the Airpod volume slider on the stem by sliding upwards a few times. Then adjust TV slider to suit.

I would like to say a big thanks to the other contributors on this thread that led me to work out what was going on in my individual case. Without them I would not have solved this! I can now enjoy the football in bed without disturbing my wife!

Hope this helps at least one other person with their issues. Good luck.

The same is happening on my Toshiba smart tv. AirPods Pro 2 connect to tv and I get about 2 seconds of sound then nothingbut they are still coneected. 1st gen AirPods Pro work perfectly well. Same happens with latest firmware version as well. 1st gen AirPods Pro work perfectly.

I urge you all to reference my case number 101823815654 and insist you are also compensated.

I was sent an Apple 4K with ethernet free as an apology.

However it doesn't fix my problem as I still can't use AirPods with PS5 or a movie playing off a thumb drive in the TV.

I live in Australia in case that means anything to you or your claim.

I also have a letter from the Store authorising a return from the store I Bought the AirPods from as they at least agreed that they are not acceptable to me and not 'fit for purpose'.

I have been trying to find a solution to this issue.. Resetting, reconnecting, nothing seemed to work. I then just thought to try again but this time I turned off the "Find My" in the airpods setting, and it finally worked!! Not sure if this will help anyone else. Doesn't hurt to try though! Good Luck!

There are two issues here:

  1. No audio, lots of people saying just turn up audio on headphones fixes this.
  2. Audio cutting out/distorted when skipping video, changing apps etc. Changing the audio output to PCM did not fix this for me.

As before, Airpod Pro 1st gen works fine, 2nd gen has issues.

My setup is a Samsung QLEDTV from 2021. I've used my old AirPods pro without any issue. I successfully paired the new AirPods pro2 (5B58) to the TV. Here's what is currently happening:

TV - randomly lose audio while changing channels

youtube app - initially works, then when it cuts to advertisement it still works but once it returns to the youtube video.. no audio

netflix, HBO, disney - similar behaviour -randomly loses audio

I found a workaround without having to go thru the menus - menu button on remote -settings bar change audio source - return to airpods - audio back

It seems that it has to do with some codec support ...clearly fails on high-quality video... this is a totally empirical perception.

Ey Apple ... please help !!!

I have found a solution to this problem that is working for me.

I got Airpod Pro 2 earbuds for Christmas and have had the same issue as everyone else with them glitching when connected to a Hisense TV and then, when I disconnected and re-paired them with the TV, I had no sound at all coming from them.

After trying every fix I could find, including doing a factory reset, I stumbled across a solution that works for me. I pressed the menu button on the TV remote and saw a setting for 'HEADPHONE VOLUME'. I turned that volume down to zero and then back up again and I had perfect sound through my Airpods.

Note: this has to be the 'headphone volume', not the television volume or the volume on any connected playing devices (like Chromecast).

Since doing that, sound has glitched out a few times and I've used that same fix each time and the Airpods work again.

I hope that helps someone else.

Just connected my AirPod Pros 2 to a new Hisense TV and had all the same issues as I had with my other TV - sound becomes squelchy and then no sound at all after disconnecting to charge the AirPods and then reconnecting. I tried every fix I could find to get sound to my AirPods (including confirming sound working on iphone and ipad).

Ultimate Solutions:

* Disconnecting and reconnecting AirPods to TV got rid of squelching. It comes back frequently and this fix seems to work every time.

* Disconnecting to recharge and reconnecting only to have no sound solved by pairing another set of Bluetooth headphones to TV (sound is fine with them) and then disconnecting and reconnecting the AirPods.

The good news seems to be (at least in my case) that if you can get sound to your AirPods after the first disconnect, it doesn’t happen again on subsequent disconnects.

APPLE: You need to fix this issue. You’re showing a complete lack of customer service and care leaving people with a near $AU400 product that has consistent issues. It’s absolutely appalling.

Same problem here as with 90%+ of others experiencing this problem.

I purchased my AirPods Pro 2 from an Apple retail store 2 weeks ago and purchased an additional pair for my daughter from a popular online retail store in which Apple have their own store page within. Admittedly I was waiting to test my daughter’s AirPods Pro 2 and they have the same issue, which is no surprise when seeing this thread.

The problem is as has been mentioned many times. Loosing the sound (the audio stream that is) when pausing and then resuming playback of video; it may not happen on the first time you pause, but it will certainly happen soon after in subsequent pauses and resumes. Also when forwarding/rewinding playback of a stream and then resuming normal playback. Also merely watching YouTube videos and refraining from pausing or fast-forwarding/rewinding in an attempt to avoid the bug from occurring becomes utterly futile as the countless YouTube ads will often invoke the glitchy AirPods Pro 2 sound stream loss issue. Changing the source channel, ie. from say one streaming service provider to another, or to the TV’s freeview channels also invokes the issue. There’s literally no escape from the problem.

Admittedly I too had found out that the temporary fix was to change the output source from AirPods Pro 2, to the TV’s Speakers and then back to the AirPods Pro 2 again. However it really is only temporary, for the minute you pause the video to attend to something, or rewind something you’ve missed or want to watch a scheduled reminder of a TV show, then your in trouble again as you have to keep doing the temporary fix again. Worse still if your watching a YouTube video with several ads contained within it, then I dont have to tell you how fatiguing it becomes doing the temporary fix procedure several times during just one video alone.

I must point out that sometimes it’s sound loss and sometimes the sound becomes broken-up and crackly, which then eventually becomes altogether lost.

I had done everything conceivably possible, which included just about everything that has been mentioned so far in it’s entirety - except turning the attached AirPods Pro 2’s volume down to zero on the TV setting and then turning it all the way back up, however this also proved ineffective.

Also as with what many others have reported; I too had no problem of this kind with other AirPod models. My AirPods gen 2 and AirPods gen 3 never lost the audio stream when using with the same TV unit. Even my ancient Bluetooth pendant I own (of many years old) in which you plug-in wired earphones of your choice never has its audio stream lost.

Its a shocking issue to say the least and left further exacerbated in disbelieve that after much time the problem ‘still’ persists.

Bluetooth is a certain wireless TX/RX standard which the AirPods Pro 2 have adopted (Bluetooth v5.3 I believe, unless mistaken) in which latter versions are backward compliant to older versions. However the AirPods Pro 2 don’t appear to be fully nor properly compliant to that standard it has embraced with the existence of this enjoyment-breaking issue.

I posted the problem above yesterday. My AirPod second generation would not connect to my Samsung TV. This morning I unplugged my TV, Blu-ray, Bose speaker, and all other attachments to my TV. I plugged it back in. Both my Apple AirPods, first generation and second generation now work fine. Good luck.

[SOLUTION]

I believe I have found a solution. Here is the process.

  1. disconnect your AirPods from the TV (not delete)
  2. set the audio to TV
  3. Go to Bluetooth devices and connect to Airpods

If that doesn’t work try this. This what I did before hand. And then these previous steps work. The following steps also removed the “find my” bit from the device name. Open the menu and follow these steps:

General > External Device manager > Disable Anynet+ (HDMI)

Then from the External device manager menu go to Device connect manager. Go to device list. Find your Aidpods in the list and delete it from the list. (The check wouldn’t appeare for me but the delete options become available when you select it)

Now go to the Bluetooth speaker menu. Your AirPods should still be there. Delete your AirPods again. Pair your device. It should now come up with your AirPods name minus the “find my”. Now steps 1-3 should work.

From Sep'22 to now Apr'23 (almost May), no signs of fix by Apple. I can see there are some temp solutions -

  1. change source of audio on TV and come back to Airpods OR
  2. disconnect and connect Airpods in TV bluetooth settings

The only permanent solution at this point seems to be to switch to another bluetooth earphones.
