Unplayed episodes are no longer populating in my Up Next section within Apple Podcasts for shows I’m subscribed to. It seems to only work if I’m listening newest to oldest (who even does that?). Has anyone else experienced this and know how to resolve. Note, I’ve tried unsubscribing and resubscribing but that hasn’t worked either

I’ve now found 2 podcasts that will appear in “Up Next” even when set to play “Oldest to Newest”, but others that have this same setting will refuse to show in “Up Next”. I have no idea why these 2 shows will work but others will not!?!? I have also confirmed that changing a podcast setting to play “Newest to Oldest” will immediately cause it to appear in Up Next. It still seems like a regression bug to me.

I’m having the exact same issue, and it only happened when I ‘upgraded’ to iOS 16.
My settings are to download the latest episode, and to listen oldest to newest (as is sensible). The new episodes are downloading and appear in the Downloaded section of the Library tab.
Of four new episodes released today, only one automatically showed up in the Up Next queue. The other three weren’t there until I changed the listening order to ‘newest to oldest’ (and then vanished again when I changed it back to ‘oldest to newest’).
This seems like a regression bug. I’m seeing the same behavior. This incorrect behavior is new since upgrading to iOS 16!
I have this same issue. It works on my laptop, but not on my phone. Very frustrating.
