Can you no longer turn specific playlist tracks on and off to skip playing them?

They should show in playlists when in the songs view. You can ctrl/right-click on a track to change the state if needed.
What I was driving at is that if you have the same song in two or more playlists and you uncheck it in one playlist, then if you look in the other lists you will find it is also unchecked there. The state belongs to the song, not the playlist.

Music > Preferences > General > Show: > Songs list checkboxes.
Note that checkboxes apply to the library, not a specific list. If you uncheck a song it is unchecked everywhere.
