Macbook Air Trade-In Kit

Hello! I purchased a new MacBook Air in my local Apple store and I brought in my old laptop to trade-in (an older MacBook Air). They said the system couldn't find my device and to instead order a trade-in kit online so I can send my laptop to Apple directly since they were having issues. Question 1: How do I get a trade-in kit sent to me? Question 2: The store said the refund (once processed through Apple) could go directly back on to my credit card to get credit for the trade in. Is this correct?

Thank you!

As far as I know, and you can look here: Apple Trade In - Apple

You either get a gift card from apple or a credit towards a purchase of a new apple device based on the value of the device. You would get the trade in kit when you want to trade in your device for a newer one
