You can demand password access and can log an iPhone or iPad or Mac login into your scion’s Apple ID, or you can ask or can demand your scion produce the device unlocked.

This second logged-in access will mess up some features, as an Apple ID is intended to be per-person, and not shared.

Both of these approaches will fail, should your scion take easily-available countermeasures to avoid your monitoring efforts. These same efforts can also distance your scion from you, and can reduce their trust and their willingness to confide in you, too.

Put differently, you have no good choice here, while your scion does have good choices for entirely avoiding your monitoring efforts.
