iphone disabled

around easter my iphone 7 plus started trying to enter the passcode for me and inevitably got disabled. it happened before i updated it to ios15.2

What can i do to fix it?

If your device has iOS 15.2 or later installed, check out this link→How to reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when you forgot your passcode - Apple Support. Otherwise:

After restoring the phone using one of the methods above you can restore your most recent backup.


However, if the problem was caused by what is sometimes called “ghost touch” your phone needs a new screen, unless it only occurs when plugged in; that would indicate a bad cable.
