slow wifi due to external monitor?

Good day, Apple Support Community.

I just pinned down that my wifi speed is reduced from 19 mbps to 6 or less when I have my MacBook Pro connected to an external Samsung monitor using a Thunderbolt port and a VGA adapter. (I also have a newer LG monitor connected by HDMI to the Pro's HDMI port. I gota have the two screen experience!)

Has anyone else had this issue?

The Samung is pretty old and only has VGA. If I got a second monitor with HDMI input could I use an HDMI splitter on my single HDMI port and still have each monitor have a different window?

I like your idea but I am not sure my old 2015 MBP can output video thru it's USB 3 ports. Looking at the Apple spec page for it:

- DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (sold separately)
- VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)
- Dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)

But maybe I should just by an adapter and see if it will.

HDMI does not have enough bandwidth to be split.

To connect an additional display, you will need an adapter from USB-C to DisplayPort or HDMI to make progress. DisplayPort is preferable because it has more bandwidth and uses less power, but Apple does not sell an adapter to DisplayPort.

This is largely because, "Apple has nothing special to offer" over a commodity adapter.

In your 2015 model MacBook Pro, you already have ThunderBolt/Mini-DisplayPort output directly available, no adapter needed. If your display requires [full size] DisplayPort, it is just a rewire adapter from [Mini] <-> [Full size] DisplayPort.
