Can you get hacked by replying to a text

I got a text from an unknown number just saying “hi” can I get hacked or get a virus or something of the sorts if I respond?

Do not interact with unknown senders (this includes; clicking links, opening attachments, or giving information). This goes for the same with answering phone calls and emails.


The answer to your question is no. You cannot get a virus from just texting someone back, but you should be cautious as these types of attacks do exist.


Phishing is emails

Vishing is phone calls or voice

Smishing is text messages.
