Due to the age of my macbook pro (2011) I cannot upgrade anything....browser etc. I dont have the money to purchase a new computer right now so is there anything I can do?

Anything? You can install and use Linux. That’ll be a big shift, and involves learning and using some very different apps.

And be absolutely certain you have backups of your data. More than one and more than one type. If you use Time Machine, also use another external disk to maintain plain old files copies. You can never have too many backups. Just be certain you keep them current. Backups are far less effective if you let them get outdated.

This also should include exports of your Contacts and Calendars. Preferably to more than single disk.

If you're not using. iCloud Drive, start using it. Your have 5 GB free space and when it come to absolutely critical files it can be very useful. Not taking about junior's 1st birthday pics ... truly critical files. The "family values critical" files will be on the external backup drives.

When you know you're at risk, you need to mitigate the risk of data loss. You can't eliminate the risk, but you can at least prepare for it.

Food for thought. Many don't know you don't have to have a license to use Windows 10 legally. You have to have a license to FULLY use Windows 10. You can install it and never activate it. It looks horrible, has a watermark that will make you gag, but it is usable at a very basic level. What you can't do are the personalizations but it will work. Absolutely correct- I sometimes need to use Windows on my Mac, so I used Boot Camp with the free disk image of Windows from their website. Just press "I don't have a product key". After a while, the watermark does show up, but it works just fine for my limited needs :)

It does get a little unreliable after a while, though- I've heard you only get it for 90 days as a sort of 'free trial'. It just depends on the extent you'll need to use it.

You can switch to a modern browser such as Firefox, Brave, Chrome, etc. which will be more secure than the old Safari that you have with 10.13.

Not much to that specific device. Some sites and apps may continue to function albeit with reduced functionality.
