Your new Mac with Monterey cannot run your old Office 2008/2011/2016 (32-bit) applications, and both the license and the applications will need to be updated to current Microsoft 365, or Office 2021 for Mac applications.
Look into the Free LibreOffice, it handles MS Office files like Word & Excel, & Page Layout…

Let's not overlook SoftMaker's Office 2021 suite which has familiar Word and Excel UI design, and opens these documents in their native formats.
