New number on new phone

I just got a new iPhone 12. I setup the whole phone but I don’t know how to activate the new number on it can somebody please explain how to do it? I already tried calling it and it did not work.

Contact your carrier. The number information comes from the SIM, they would need to activate the particular number for you.

put the sim from your previous phone in the new phone if it fits..
