Battery percentage jump and Mac is using battery when it is off.

I have purchased mabook air 2020 in 2021. when I bought it is preinstalled with big Sur os. So, after two or three weeks I have updated it to os 12. From then I am observing an un usual activity in battery percentage.

1)If I charge it to 80% from any level, unplug the charger and shut it down and turning it after three to four hours, then the battery will jump from 80 to 85%.

2) When I charge it to 100% and unplug it and shut it down and put it in the bag and when turn in on, on the next day it shows it is still connected to the power plug and charging in the battery graph, though it is not.

3) when I work on it and shut it down and turn it on after two or three hours, it shows that still working at that time though it is in shut down mode. Observe the screen usage chart.

And I am still facing this issue from 6 months onwards, I have performed all the solution provided by the apple support and taken to the service centre and there they have said it might be the software problem and they reinstalled the software and still the issue is happening. And same thing said to the service centre and they have said "there is nothing we can do as of now, it should be checked with apple support".

Attaching the screenshots of the above three points, please help me out if anyone faced this issue with MacBook Air 2020 model and let me know the answer.

Please help me out.

EDITED

I do not what to appear callus about this, but think you might be Mico - Managing the Battery

You will probably loose the over enjoyment and usage of this computer for an issue that may not really exist.

To out this is context - have a M1 MBA from 2020 purchased in March 2021 and the battery just lasts and lasts much as advertised by Apple

It is now June 2022 and the same battery has been used wth care and prudence.

It has exactly 19 Full Battery Cycles and still achieves to Full Designed Capacity

For additional reading on Battery and Apple Computers this link may help. About battery health management in Mac notebooks and especially for the M1 and Big Sur  & Monterey If battery charging is paused or on hold on your Mac

A feature introduced into Big Sur & Monterey was to preserve the number of Full Battery Cycles - there was an Algorithm coded into the macOS. It is perfectly Normal for Big Sur , Monterey to Pause / Suspend charging the battery beyond 80% and hold it at that level. One can nudge / over-ride this by clicking the Battery Icon on Desktop Top Bar and allow charging beyond 80%. From observations, it will Pause / Suspend again once reading 90%. Same procedure to over-ride and will charge to 100%

  • Copied from your post .... "I have purchased mabook air 2020 in 2021. when I bought it is preinstalled with big Sur os. So, after two or three weeks I have updated it to os 12.

  • Your saying you updated to Os-12, I am assuming you mean Mac Os Monterey 12 ... If so now you should UPDATE to Mac Os Monterey 12.4 and Observe if the problem still persists ... If yes - Step 2 - Familiar yourself with how to reset your Macbook Air "SMC and NVRAM or PRAM" ... And that should slove it ... But, if paraventure battery status display still wrong ... Step 3 - "NOTE" might not be Apple approved (But worked in my case for Macbook Pro 15" running Mac Os Monterey 12.4) Now unplug Magsefe run notebook in normal usage until battery runs out on red and shuts down on its own - reconnect magsafe (power adaptor) lets know your state.

It is unclear if this is a Intel or M1 "Macbook Air 2020"...?

I would be interesting to see the BATT preference settings which you do not show for all the analysis here...

ex. mimick these settings and compare your results. You should be able to simply close the lid and let it sleep.

The rule of thumb:

if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on Battery only.

Battery percentage jump and Mac is using battery when it is off.
