Through Use of AppleCare+:
Standard coverage (out-of-the box) doesn't cover it. But, with AppleCare+, accidental coverage might fix this.

If you purchased the optional AppleCare+ coverage, accidental damage (including water damage) will be covered.
Being an insurance product, you will have to pay a small excess/deductible fee. Assuming your claim is accepted, your iPad will very likely be exchanged for a reconditioned iPad of the same model and specification. AppleCare+ provides protection for two “incidents”.
