Backup from MacOS BigSur 11.6.4 to 11.6.5

On my scheduled updates, I have an option to either upgrade to macOS Monterey or to update my BigSur 11.6.4 to 11.6.5.

I want to do the latter to cause minimal disruption. My question is this: is updating from 11.6.4 to 11.6.5 equivalent to upgrading the operating system, i.e. uninstalling the existing and installing a new one? If so, I assume that I will have to back up everything and reinstall a lot of software packages.

Or is the update from 11.6.4 to 11.6.5 just applying "patches" to the existing OS, rather than a full upgrade (as installing Monterey would be)

I upgraded from 10.15.7 to Monterey (skipping over Big Sur) and did not have to reinstall anything (including printers/scanners or their drivers). This includes various TurboTax packages from various years (not just 2021), MS-Office, and others. I also have another laptop on Big Sur, mandated there for now by my employer. That upgrade, also from Catalina, also required zero re-installs.
