Whats the best way to resolve? If I add more memory, will that help? I've deleted all I can, with the knowing that more files will certainly be added, and that's not a realistic resolution long term.

You cannot add memory (either that or more space/storage). It is realistic that you need to maintain a minimum of 15 GB of empty space at all times for the OS to function properly. So you need to delete or move your space hogging files to an external drive permanently.
What year is your Mac and are you really running 10.11?
