Is it possible for me to book repair appointment in another city/country. since I am going to Sydney next week I thought I will booked an appointment directly with one of the Apple stores over there.

You can. If you wanted the Sydney CBD store go to the George Street store's webpage here for their details, and click on the link for a Genius Bar support - which takes you to Apple Support. In that page you can navigate to a page to create a booking for repair support.
