Weird blank in my timeline??

I was combining a couple of shots from one library over to another library (two separate drives) ... adding those shots to the working project timeline ... and lo and behold I have a sudden blank spot in the timeline, where there should be a clip or slug. I can't delete that black space, or do anything with it. And. When this happens the whole timeline is a black frame ... I'm no longer seeing the clips in the view window. See attachment. Ever come across this before?

If there is no instant solution I'll make a new blank project and bring over the original timeline clips, and then the migrated clips, and see if that solves the issue.

But it would be interesting to know what might have happened here. I did do a consolidation to maker sure the clips I brought over from the other library (a separate drive) actually moved over.

There is nothing you could have done that should have resulted in an empty space in the middle of the primary storyline. You did nothing wrong.

I can only ascribe this to some weird glitch. Your solution to make a new project and copy things is what you would have advised too. I guess we will never know why it happened.

Thank you Luis,

That's comforting, and I'm not being sarcastic. I'm making a film about some bleeding edge science ... and the most interesting thing about it is how Nature works so mysteriously. This particular group has made some amazing discoveries simply by being able to say 'I don't know'. And embracing the fact. And giving Nature exactly what it seems to want, rather than impose a human theory on Nature and expect it to conform ... a major flaw at the heart of reductionist science.

Thanks again Luis ... I think it was you, many years ago, who suggested, when I was struggling with a project, that I should just start a new project and migrate all the clips over. A fix technique I use regularly.

All the best, Ben
