Apple Watch Series 1 and Iphone XR, IOS 15.3.1

Hello,

I am attempting to pair an Apple Watch, Series 1 to an Iphone XR-IOS 15.3.1. I receive a message that the Watch needs to be updated, but need to update my iphone in order to update my watch. My iphone is up to date with IOS 15.3.1 however I keep getting the same message and cannot update the watch. I attempted to restart both devices, as well as connect them to charger-fully charged. Is the apple watch series 1 not supported with the IOS 15.3.1? Is there any way I can get the watch to update? Please help!

AFAIK, iOS 15 should be compatible with the series 1 watch. watchOS 6.3 is the highest version the watch can be updated to. Do to its limited memory, a series 1, 2, & 3 watch may have problems updating.

At this point, your best bet might be to take them to the Genius Bar in an Apple Store and let them look at it. If that its not possible, then use the online Apple Support option. Either way:

Its still not working…says “To update the software on your Apple Watch, you first need to update the software on your iPhone.” BUT my iPhone is up to date. :-(
