XPC Connection error (SOLVED)

I solved the XPC Connection error on my Macbook as follows: Download the JavaUninstallTool (https://www.java.com/en/download/uninstalltool.jsp), and then the latest Java Version (https://www.java.com/en/download/), Use the Uninstall Tool first, then install Java. Error connecting to 'internet' with Mojave I am trying to update my software. I received an 2018 mac air (brand new) from work, and was having issues, so i took it to the apple store. they upgraded it to mojave, i am now trying to upgrade the OS further. However, whenever I go to the app store or to the software update in preferences, i get the error 'make sure you are connected to the internet'. I am definitely connected because I am using the computer now! Any suggestions?

MacAir (2014) upgrade & internet connection problem I have been trying to upgrade our MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014) but I get: "An error message occurred while downloading the selected updates. Please check your internet connection and try again". I have checked but don't see any problem. Please help. Any idea what could be the cause of internet connection problem. Thank you

Install a JDK This is a chestnut but I keep getting the "you need to install a JDK" error message on my new iMac running Catalina. When I try to install the Java legacy software (cf various other threads on same topic) I get the message below (Java for Mac OS 2017-001 can't be installed on this disk. A newer version of this package is already installed). To date, I have tried to uninstall the current Java, reinstall the legacy Java and then reinstall the latest Java, both with Java's now uninstall program and Mac Terminal. It still won't let me reinstall the legacy Java. On restart, and with no apps running, I still get the message below. Does anyone have any bright ideas, please? Even isolating the code/app that's looking for the legacy Java would be good. Best wishes, cata Will
