I don’t understand why drag a video to iMovie need to become still photo. Why can’t make it drag a video become video? This is very frustrating not only because it’s confusing, I also need to clean up my desktop.

I don't know why dragging a video from the Photos app library to iMovie changes it to a a photo.
For videos in the Photos app, the one-step way is to click on the Photos item in the iMovie project media sidebar, and drag the video into the timeline.
Otherwise, you would need to drag or File/Export your video from the Photos app to your desktop and from there drag it into iMovie. Then you can delete if from your desktop.

Yeah, I know that method too,but navigate videos from iMovie is so small, also can’t playback before import. So I normally view at photo first, also can do editing in photo app. more importantly.if I already looking at the photo at photo app I have to do two steps and clean up my desktop. Hope Apple will improve it.
It would be nice if we could drag a video straight in from the Photos app library. However, in the Photos item in the iMovie sidebar you can play and review the clip in the media browser before dragging it in to iMovie.
