Since I can’t find where to submit a support ticket for HomeKit here it is: we can’t get reliable availability of devices (Apple TV’s and HomePods) via airplay and other “control center” services like remote over multiple wifi systems/configurations.

We have tried Apple airport extremes, the Xfinity router/modem (which tens of millions of people have in the US), and an expensive wired access point system with a variety of settings changes to try to improve service.

In all cases devices are only intermittently available for streaming or remote control from mobile devices.

Does HomeKit just not work with any system that has more than one access point?

You don’t say which Apple TV you have. If it’s a 4 K model, you can set HomePods (one or one pair) to be the default audio setting and then you can use the Siri remote from the Apple TV to control HomePods by pointing it at the HomePod. See: Set up home theater audio with HomePod mini or HomePod and Apple TV 4K - Apple Support.

For anything else to resolve issues try rebooting the wifi or restarting the HomePods. See: If HomePod isn't responding - Apple Support
